How to Make a Cardboard UFO Costume

If aliens exist, then we are aliens to them. Embark on an inter-planetary adventure in an earth-made flying saucer.
How to Make a Cardboard UFO Costume

All you need is some cardboard, an umbrella and Makedo (of course) to make this Upcycled Fantastic Object (UFO).

Follow these simple steps to make your own unique costume for Halloween, a dress-up party or interstellar at-home fun.

Instructions

Step 1: Measure out 8 panels

Using a pencil & ruler, mark up the cardboard, following the template above. Use your Safe-Saw to cut along the solid lines, and your Fold-Roller to fold along the dotted lines.

Step 2: Attach the panels together

Fold the edge of each panel over the neighbouring piece, and secure with three (3) Scrus. Repeat until you have created a closed octagonal shape.

Note: If you are using a different sized umbrella, you may need to make some adjustments to the size of the octagonal opening. For best fit, it should be slightly smaller than the widest part of the open umbrella.

Step 3: Assemble the UFO

Insert the open umbrella cup through the octagonal opening. The edge of the umbrella should be larger than the opening, and will be held in place by the cardboard panels.

For extra hold, you can use small straps of cardboard and a couple of extra Scrus to sandwich some of the umbrella tips against the inside edge of the octagonal opening.

Step 4: Make it your own!

Feel free to embellish your creation with LED lights, tinsel, space decorations, and more!
